There is very little difference in paper quality between original and
fake issues of the so-called "Numeral Design" stamps (Mi #6-8). The
colour can vary quite much both on originals and forgeries, but the
colour application is much less even on forgeries. This is especially
the case in the lower part of the design around the letters "Penni".
Spots are few, however, both on original and fake issues [1]. The most
important characteristics to distinguish originals from forgeries are:
- The upper and lower waveline is often touching the outer
frame on the forgeries, making the spaces appear as white spots. On
original issues the wavelines are only occasionally touching the outer
frame.
- The frame line around the central "Eesti Post" field is rather narrow
and even on the originals, thicker and more uneven on forgeries.
