... Serbian Forgeries ...
1904
100 years anniversary of the anti-Turkish uprising in Orashatz
Fast jump selection:
According to my sources [1, 2] Fournier did not make forgeries of this set. Still,
Billig characterizes these forgeries as "Type II". They might have been printed
from the same cliche as the previous Kara-George dynasty set, as they show many of
the same design errors as those issues. Both the original stamps and the forgeries
are line perforated 11 1/2.
Unfortunately, I don't yet have original issues of this set to show for comparison
(all my issues turned out to be forgeries!). Please go back to the
previous gallery for a peek at the original designs.

To identify forgeries of this issue, the following design characteristics of the
text are:
- The lower end of the Cyrillic "A" is blunt.
- The foot of the Cyrillic "F" is missing.
- The lower part of the Cyrillic "B" is rounded.

Furthermore:
- The triangle in the right ornament is asymmetric, and the end of the vertical
bar is blurred.
- The "drop" or petals hanging from the vertical ornaments are separate ovals.
- The tiny appendix inside the left ornament is almost non-existent.
- Note also the different shapes and sizes of the numbers "1804", especially the
poor head and foot of the "1".
- Shading between figures and ornaments is almost completely coloured.
- The shape and symmetry of the letters in "DINAR" is rather poor.

The green ink of this issue seems to have been floating a little, resulting in very poor
letter contours. The main design characteristics of the text are the same as the
previous issue:
- The lower end of the Cyrillic "A" is blunt.
- The foot of the Cyrillic "F" is missing.
- The lower part of the Cyrillic "B" is rounded.

This time the colouring and finish of the letters are a little better. The main design
characteristics of the text, however, are the same as for the previous issues:
- The lower end of the Cyrillic "A" is blunt.
- The foot of the Cyrillic "F" is missing.
- The lower part of the Cyrillic "B" is rounded.
